Bobby Parnell cleared for baseball activities

New York Mets closer, Bobby Parnell, has been cleared to resume all baseball activities following his surgery in September of 2013. He had surgery to heal a herniated disk in his neck. There was some fear he would not be ready to start the season as their closer. However, this report means that he will be ready to start the 2014 season as the Mets closer.

The bullpen is still one of the major weaknesses for the Mets. Sandy Alderson has not signed a free agent reliever all offseason. As of now, their bullpen would consist of Bobby Parnell, Vic Black, Jeurys Familia, Josh Edgin, Scott Rice, Gonzalez Germen, and Carlos Torres. Expect for Alderson to sign one veteran reliever to compete with Black for the set up role.
